With over 25 years of legal and operational leadership, Schellhase has a remarkable history of scaling technology businesses and navigating them through pivotal transitions. He has been the top legal executive at six companies, notably including Salesforce and Groupon during their initial public offerings (IPOs). Most recently, at Slack Technologies, Schellhase oversaw not only the legal department but also privacy, corporate development, and other key functions – ultimately steering Slack through its public listing and a $28 billion acquisition by Salesforce. His tenure in these roles was marked by complex regulatory compliance, high-stakes negotiations, and the successful execution of growth strategies on a global scale.


Beyond those roles, Schellhase remains an active figure in the tech industry. In 2025 he joined the board of directors of Okta, Inc., a leading identity security company. He also serves as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Ballistic Ventures, advising cybersecurity startups on legal strategy and innovation in an evolving regulatory landscape. Additionally, he has lent his guidance as an advisor to high-growth startups like Airtable and Webflow and has shared his knowledge as a lecturer at Stanford University – exemplifying his dedication to mentoring the next generation of innovators.
